Man ate horse for thousands of years in Europe. In the Americas horses were more valued for transportation. (Many Europeans, until the end of the 19th century, never traveled outside the village they were born in. In the West people regularly traveled great distances.) now it's mainly tradition - horses are almost (and in some cases, are) pets, while cows are just meat on the hoof.

Hi there.
Well, in some countries like Japan, horse is a very common animal to eat. However, in the UK and in Europe, it is simply easier to handle and breed cows, sheep and pigs for meat.
Hope I helped!

They arent as easy to farm, or as tasty as cow, sheep or pig and dot yield as much meat for the size of the aniumal and how much it eats. Also public opinion goes against it, but in Iceland, France and some other places you can find horse on the menu.
I bet the horses you see will be ridden, or used to be when they were younger, or maybe they are for breeding.

because horses are domesticated animals. They are, to some people, pets. it's like eating a dog.

Some people do eat them actually and I think it's pretty gross. I guess the meat just isn't tasty enough.
