How do I change the odometer on a 1998 Malibu from kilometers to miles?

Pressing and holding the odometer trip button doesn't work

Update:

Please note that I'm asking about the odometer, not the speedometer. Also keep in mind that I know nothing about cars, so if you use an abbreviation please tell me what it stands for :-)

    You can bye a after market backing plate for the speedometer ,if it.s not digital .

    change the speedometer and sending unit in the tranny.
