I have an Ooma. It seems pricey at first, but it pays for itself over time and is a giant leap forward for technology. You get what you pay for!!!

Where I live, Colorado, it appears to be a scam, and here's how it works. You buy the thing and call them, and initially they tell you that you'll even get to keep your existing #. Then during processing, they stop and say " Oh... I'm sorry, but there are no available numbers in your area. ." This doesn't work for me as it would seem that if I am transferring my existing number, it would count as available. Anyways, they then have to give you a number in the next available area code. In so doing, anyone calling you locally are charged for long distance. Whether a scam or not, it was important for me to keep my number so took the jack back.

it is a nice toy, but I would never recommend anyone to take it serious.
