What are the advantage of doing a phpBB web site? other than with WordPress. and can we change the appearance with the phpBB? can i insert Google ads?

Phpbb is a forum. I personally do not like phpbb because it's complicated to make a custom look for it. Yes there downloadable skins for it. There are also mods to make it seem like a full website, and to add google ads. But for me I believe there are some security flaws with it, and I will now refer you to something that one-ups it.
