Can eyes change color?

Without contacts, because I do not have contacts. Well, my eyes are dark brown, so dark, they resemble black. When I'm in the shade or the dark, my eyes look dark blue. I was very upset the other night because of a family trauma, and so I was crying. When I went into the bathroom to wash my face I looked in the mirror and my eyes were green. Dark green. I did have dark green eyes when I was born, but I'm not sure if that has anything to do with that. So, can my eyes change color when I cry, if that's possible? Thanks!

eyes can and do change color gradually over time, mostly when you're young (less than 10yrs old), but also in certain conditions when you're older. they definitely won't change color when you cry.

i should mention, i suppose it might be possible for there to be some transient changes to the blood vessels of the anterior portion of the eye where the iris (collored portion) is located. this MIGHT temporarily cause some change in eye color...but the pigment in the Iris won't change it in any way to permanently change the color of your eyes. hope that explanation helps...it's kind of a stab in the dark though. cheers

I have hazel colored eyes and they become much more green after I cry. It is not permanent however.
