C: icons on desktop in in vista?

the contents of C: and my desktop are being displayed on my desktop along with my desktop icons and the C: my computer icon is in my home folder... ive ran chkdsk :C /R and after i rebooted it was still that way, the icons arent copyies as if ou right click them and go to properties it says there in C: not c:\users\ineedacar\Desktop any idea how to revert it?

    I had the same problem in the last 24 hours.

    Turn off your computer and when it loading press F8, Go to a system restore and push it back to before this began to happen.

    I think it might have something to do with the safe mode not shutting off properly or something.

    Anyway, this worked for me. Hope it does the same for you

    You probably have mistakenly created toolbars of your desktop and your computer and they are showing on your desktop.. Right click on your task bar at the bottom and then click on toolbars and uncheck by clicking in front of the ones that say desktop and computer. That should help.
