What's the best professional tennis match that you have seen in person?

Well today I was at the Sony Ericsson in Key Biscayne (not really in the city of Miami like everyone seems to think) and it was so much fun! I saw so many great matches and saw so many great pros!

During the day session I saw Robin Soderling win, Ana Ivanovic lose a tight match to Radwanska, Berdych win, Lopez win, Wawrinka win, Bryan brothers own Nadal and his friend, Venus Williams win, Fish pull off the major upset over Murray (great match), and Kuznetsova dominate Szavay (I had front row seats in the main stadium JBP, I sat 2 feet from Sveta's coach!) They were all great matches and so much fun to watch. The only matches that I missed that I wanted to see was Cilic win and Verdasco win. I'm sure I saw parts of other matches that I am not remembering, I was there all day!

Outside of matchplay I actually had the privilege of talking to Sam Querrey after his doubles victory. He also signed my hat which is now signed by Del Potro, Isner, Nadal, and Querrey. Sam is a really cool guy and him and Isner are both my favorite American players.

I also saw Almagro running around without a shirt on (he used to be a lot chubbier), and saw the Bryan brothers being driven around on a golf cart lol. I saw various other pros out and about on the grounds throughout the day. It was a great day session with the only disappoinment being that Ana lost her match despite playing very well.

In the night session I got to watch my idol play for the first time in person ever! I sat seventh row center court to watch Roger Federer stick it to Nicolas Lapentti 6-3, 6-3. Roger didn't even have one of his cleanest matches, but he was still hitting some incredible shots. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to get his autograph because he was swarmed by fans, but it was such a pleasure to watch him and it was my favorite match ever that I have seen in person.

I also saw Hantuchova (great legs) beat Petrova afterwards. That was a fun match as well. The stadium emptied out so much after the Federer match that I was able to go sit in the front row with my friend!

All in all it was a great day of tennis even though I was burnt to a crisp lol. Definitely a great experience and I love the Sony so much.

So tell me about your best experience with professional tennis in person. What tournament have you ever been to? Who have you seen play? Thanks for all of your comments!

Well I have been going to the BNP Paribas Open for 3 years (first year I went it was called Pacific Life Open, which I prefer)

First I saw my idol at the time, Novak Djokovic beat Stanislas Wawrinka. I also saw Jelena Jankovic beat Lindsay Davenport as well as Ana Ivanovic beat Vera Zvonereva. Outside the courts I saw Nadal practice for his night match, Roger Federer practice. I saw Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic beat Richard Gasguet and his partner in doubles (cant remember the rest!). I got Jankovic, Gasquet, Nestor/Zimonjic's autographs.

Last year I saw Mardy Fish, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Caroline Wozniacki, Kaia Kanepi, Tommy Haas, Nestor and Zimonjic again. I got Lukas Dlouhy and Leander Paes autographs. I actually got to talk to Leander Paes. At the end I caught Janko Tipsarevic (I followed him the whole day getting his autograph) and I also got Amalie Mauresmo's but she was a ***** about it.

This year I saw Victoria Azarenka beat Sibylle Bammer. Afterwards I touched her elbow (which was sexy lol) and got her to sign a Belarusian flag. I was able to see Clijsters, Jankovic, Nestor/Zimonjic, Dlouhy/Paes, Roddick, Pennetta, Isner, Davydenko, and Roddick practice. I saw Mario Ancic beat Julien Benneteau which was a pretty good match. Then I saw Marin Cilic, which was dissappointing cus he got bageled in the 2nd set.

Probably the best match I saw live, though, was Rafael Nadal vs James Blake during my 1st trip. I had really good seats too, which were like 10 rows back in a sold-out stadium. Rafael Nadal ended up winning 7-5 3-6 6-3. I almost got his autograph but there were so many other people there it was almost impossible to move. Oh well lol.

Im hoping to see Baghdatis next year, still not giving up lol

The amounts you are talking about is gross amount (before taxes). I would agree with you that the best tennis professionals tennis players make enourmous money, but this is the case with the best. What about the rest who work really hard as well and at the end of career (20 years later) they have a little bit more than ordinary person and they were within the best two hundred in the world. One cannot compare how much earn people in other professions (docors, professors, lawyers) when they are within best 200 in the world in their profession and for how long (30-40 years). Professional tennis player as a rule has no education to be able to get some kind of job after tennis career except very best whose fame buy them position. So to conclude:the best in the world earn a lot of money, but the rest looking money wise made bad choice by playing professional tennis because considering expenses they make very modesly considerening what they did. This is why I consider WTA/ATP very unfair busines entities.

You are so lucky to have watched Federer play! Also to have seen Lopez, i was desperate to watch him in Sydney in doubles but they pulled out :(

I went to the Medibank International in Sydney this year and last year. In 2009 I watched Kuznetsova, Serena Williams play Sam Stosur, Radwanska. I met Gasquet who was really nice and Djokovic was doing a signing session and i had a bit of a joke with him. Met Dominika Cibulkova who i was just taller than.

This year I got a ground pass and watched Berdych and met him before the match. I met Stan Wawrinka and got a photo (no one seemed to know who he was) , Alisa Kleybanova ( she seemed happy to get away from her coach who had been talking to friends for ages!), Flavia Pennetta, Nenad Zimonjic. Svelana Kuznetsova was practising and she said that i could have a photo and she would sign for me after practice but i had to go :( I also saw Vika, Lleyton Hewitt.

I saw the mens doubles final between Daniel Nestor / Serbia Nenad Zimonjić and Ross Hutchins / Australia Jordan Kerr. Also that night I watched Gasquet and Baghdatis in the mens final and was right at the front, so close to the players. It was a really good match but there was an hour delay because in was raining lightly. The match was awesome and there was such a good atmosphere. There were so many Greek supporters and a few drunk young French supporter, who were so funny. When Baghdatis was giving his speech he said "Your English is sexy. All the girls love you!'"(because Gasquet had apologised for his English)

Both years were so good. In 2009 I got burnt so badly because it was almost 60 degrees celcius in the stadium :(

I think I'd have to say Andre Agassi's last match ever at the US Open vs. Benjamin Becker. Agassi got taken out in 4 sets, and at times he looked like he was hanging on by a thread. It was still an amazing match to be at. After the match it was very, very emotional. Andre could barely speak through his tears and the atmosphere of the stadium was something you'd have to experience to understand.
