i think you should meet him as there is a high possibility of chance that he is for real. go wit a friend as too many people might make him feel awkward.. ask him to bring along a friend and meet in a shopping mall or something

Meeting people in person that you "met" on the internet is dangerous--but you already know that, otherwise you wouldn't be so nervous and be posting a question about it.
You said his info on his FB page states he went to the same college as you. You can verify it by yearbooks, and looking up the Alumni.Or even his place of business to verify he works there. You have his cell number, has he by chance given you his land line/home number? You can do a reverse lookup on his home number and verify his name and address.
If what you are asking, is weather or not to meet him, that is up to you. Only you can make that choice. You know the risks. If you decide you want to meet him, do so in a public place. A local restaurant or a busy park, and bring a friend. If you are really nervous, buy a can of mace and stick it in your purse, and of course have your cell ready to dial 911 should he turn out to be a creep.
Remember, hundreds of people meet one another in person after meeting online every day (dating sites such as eharmony). Some work out, some don't. If you want to meet him, meet him.

It's very dangerous meeting people on the internet. Personally if I were in your shoes I would meet him in public. The best thing to do is take a couple of your friends male or female and see how he reacts or feels about other people being with you. Keep doing this for awhile until you feel it's safe for both of you to finally meet in private.
