Do you agree with owning wild animals as pets?

I see alot of questions about owning wolves particularly, and i think its CRAZY! Its cruel to own any wild animal in your home, because they natrually socialize with others of their kind, run without limits, hunt, ect ect. Domestication just can't compare. Do you agree?

True, but techinically isn't owning a dog or cat cruel? They were all once wild animals. I think it's okay to own a skunk (domesticated, bought from a breeder, permit, etc...) and fox, etc as long as they are loved and well cared for. Wild animals such as skunks can sometimes be domesticated to be like a cat and regular pet. Many people own wild animals and five them a great life.....what animal wouldn't be happy to be loved, well cared for, and not have to fight for food?!

As long as they have a great life and aren't a lion. tiger, bear, jaguar, monkey, etc I have nothing against it.

I do agree with you. Wild animals are meant to be left out in the wild than being house pets. Plus, it's not that easy to take care of wild animals, because they have a different mentality than cats and dogs.

I definitely agree! People try to domesticate animals and are then surprised when they attack someone, it's ridiculous. So many people think it will make them more popular or whatever to have an "exotic" pet, but wild animals need to stay WILD

it also affects their genes since the owner will tend to only let them breed for their purposes. Pure breeding has screwed up several species. for example, the Alsatian has serious hip/back leg problems because of people trying to create or improve a species to fit their wants/needs

Totally! You should never keep an animal unless it will die without your help. Even if you do want a wild animal that will not make it without your help, you should take it home carefully and call an animal shelter immediately.

What we currently call "domestic rabbits" are actually rabbits that were once wild in the U.K. A domesticated animal, is generally a domesticated animal. They can't survive in the wild, once they've reached that point of domestication. With that being said, different animals have different needs..and some (like Big Cats) need special handling, because they don't know their own strength. (I.E. You never turn your back on a tiger, because in their effort to play wrestle with you (thinking you're a tiger just like them) they very well may kill you)..and that's no fault of theirs. It's just the way it is. What we need is more common knowledge on how to raise different animals. Even domesticated dog breeds such a pitbulls have gotten a bad rap...They were bred for their strong jaws and it's true..If treated cruely, or put in a dog fight..They're capable of doing some serious damage...but just because an animal is capable..doesn't mean it will and pitbulls that are treated kindly have some of the sweetest dispositions. We as human beings are capable of some pretty horendous things..but were not all bad. Maybe we should think on that, the next time we look at an animal.

Yes, that is true, but...If a wild animal is hurt, just bring it home and heal it first, then release it back to the wild:) P.S: If you do this, please be really careful!

I've got a friend that found a wolf pup abandoned on the side of the road by it's mother, and if they weren't there to rescue it then it would've died. and yeah, the wolf grew up to be as normal as any other dog, he's happy and loved.

I agree with you. No. Only if it's done to save it's life. Plenty of desperately needy pets at the shelter.
