I lost a check with my lunch money on it, what should I do?
I didn't tell my parents yet.
It has $150 on it.
All the details are on the check with my full name, account number, etc.
Should I tell my parents? Does anything happen if no one uses it?

Tell your parents - they won't get mad.
It had the schools name on it - only the school can use it.
Remember that.
No individual can take that check and cash it unless they are authorized by the school to take check in their name.
Anyone else that tries to erase the schools name and put their own name and deposit it into their account is committing pure check fraud.
Check fraud is a FEDERAL offence - punishable by up to 10 years in jail.
Forget the other answers - they must not know that the school's name is written on the check.

Stop payment & tell parents. Someone can use the account #'s online to empty bank account if you don't tell them now so they can call the bank, and the bank can stop any fraudulent activity.
Don't waste time waiting on other answers.

YES, tell your parents.
They can call their bank and cancel that check and write you another one. Otherwise, who knows, someone might find it and try to cash it and then your parents would have to go through a big hassle. Just tell them the truth -- QUICKLY.

tell them so they can cancel the check
If no one uses it then no the money would stay in the account..
If you know that you threw it out then they could save a fee on stopping a check and just write a new one.
