A cake I remember from childhood - anyone know this recipe?
This is a chocolate cake mix put in a 13 " rectangular pan. After cake mix is in pan you pour a mixture of water and instant coffee and sugar(?). Then you bake it and it forms a wonderful mocha pudding on the bottom half of the cake. We served it with whipped cream on top. Does anyone know this cake? Can you tell me hoe much of the instant coffee goes into the water? Think it was 2 cups of water - but maybe was only one. Does sugar go into the coffee liquid?
Thanks so much to everyone!

From what you describe, I think this recipe may be the one you remember.
Chocolate Pudding Cake

It calls for 1 1/2 cups of water. [Stir the instant coffee into the boiling water. In a separate bowl, stir together the white sugar, brown sugar, and cocoa powder.]

Not sure, could have been in the old Better Homes and Gardens cook book or maybe Bettye Crocker, but here is a list of websites with similar recipes (the first two are the closest):
