How to darken this wood to that colour?

I want to darken this wood: http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/5855/stp61709.jpg

to match this colour or darker: http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/601/stp61710.jp...

How would I go about doing this? I thought Beeswax was the answer but the only beeswax in stock at the local store is just polishing stuff. If I do need Beeswax, how much would I need to get the bookcase to match the chair?

Thanks.

I think you can get waxes for real wood floors with stains already mixed in but to use this on your shelves you would have to strip it to get to the bare wood.

You can get varnish with wood stains ready mixed in. I think they also come in gloss, silk or matt. If the bookcase is already varnished you will have to give it a rub down with sandpaper first. Homebase or B&Q will do them.

    Good Luck.

the bookcase is pine and you would have to strip it to bare wood and use a few coats of a dark stain and then urethane it...i would use a sealer before staining to prevent blotching...and then you still might not get the look of the chair as they are different kinds of wood...
