is my friend bipolar?
Me and my two best friends hang out all the time but lately 2 of us have been thinking our friend is bipolar. She goes into huge mood swings. One mintue she will be laughing the next she will stop and get mad at you. For example we were all laughing at how her skin was poping out of the whole in her jeans then a split second later she got reallly afended and wouldnt talk to us. She is also very pertective over one of us. If we try to hang out without her sher throws a fit and dosnt talk to us but 20 mintues later it is like nothing has even happend. We are getting really stressed out and we dont know what to do! what are so other symptoms?? please help us!
Her mother also is on medication for bipolar disorder and has stress issues

I don't think anyone on yahoo answers can give you a 100% answer on if your friend is bipolar or not. This sounds as though it could be, but you have no way to know for sure. Try to talk to her, there may be a lot of other stress in her life right now, and she is just taking it out on her friends. I don't know how long this as been going on, but maybe it is just a phase. You could talk to a councellor about it, and see what they think. Also she might be posessive because she feels left out or because of something else maybe happening at her home. You should definately talk to her about this, but dont tell her that you think shes bipolar because it is not the easiest thing to hear and she will probably just get more offended.

Most people get pissed off when you tease them, that wasn't nice of you....... She is a teenager, she is not Bipolar.
People with Bipolar Disorder go through long periods pf deep depression followed by long periods of mania or elevated mood, long period meaning weeks or months or years.....
This is what it is like to have Bipolar disorder:
Depression - too tired to get out of bed, shower, even to brush my teeth. Cry all the time, sleep 16 hours a day. Feelings of self loathing and guilt that drive me to think of suicide but I'm to tired to even think about how to go about killing myself....... this can last from a couple of weeks to a couple of years.
Mania - Way too happy! PARTY GIRL! love drink and drugs. Hypersexual - like I sleep with strangers and guys I just met on the internet or I masturbate 10 times a day. I once became bisexual because there were twice as many people to sleep with. Spending sprees..... I once spent my mortgage money on african violets, yep, $1500 on African violets (then I got depressed and let them all die). Quit my job because I wanted my vacation pay for lottery tickets and I was so convinced I would win that I started shopping and writing bad checks because I'd be rich as soon as the numbers were drawn. Only sleep 2 or maybe 3 hours a night for months on end and never feel tired. This can last for months.
