How difficult would it be to do a tune up on a 1994 Honda Accord DX myself?

First, I suppose a better question is: is it worth it? I plan on selling the car, since it has 190,000 miles and one thing after another keeps going wrong with it. Do you think the cost of a tune up will be recouped in the sale? I already purchased a Camry to replace it, so if I do fix the Accord, it does not matter how long it takes.

The mechanic wants to charge me around $400 for the tune up (is that high for a tune up?) and another $200 to replace the upper radiator hose. I am pretty sure I can do the latter myself, as I've seen it done before. I know pretty much nothing about doing a tune up, but I knew nothing about replacing the mid-pipe, changing the oil and fixing/replacing various body parts (door handle, side mirror, etc.) before I did it.

Update:

I should add that it is very obvious that it needs a tune up (one piston not firing).

Update 2:

The mechanic was including parts in his estimate. He gave me a list of parts that the tune up covers: valve cover gasket set, platinum rings, rotor, distribution cap, pcv valve, air filter and fuel filter.

Update 3:

What else is wrong with it? Well, currently nothing else ... unless you include the rust, peeling paint, and several dents and scratches. I replaced the starter and had a seriously expensive brake job done on it last year. I also replaced the mid-pipe and had to fix an electrical problem that I caused. I guess it's not that much, but when you throw in the body work and have all these problems in quick succession it seems like a lot.

well I would say about 100 bucks to do it yourself. It shouldn't be to hard.

What else is wrong with it? The buyer might not want to buy the car if things keep going wrong with it. So its kind of hard to say if its even worth doing a tune up on the car because there could be other serious things wrong with it.

Thats way expensive for a tune up , does it include parts???? What is included in the tune up

You can tune it up your self , by the parts at the auto store and you can do it with minimal tools

    I would do :

    Spark Plugs

    Radiator Hose

    Plug Wires

    Fuel Filter

    Oil Change

then call it day . You can go deeper if you would like .
