Should I buy the ATI Radeon HD 4550 or the ATI Radeon HD 5450?

Which card should I buy? Which of these cards would do good at gaming. I know these cards are not made for gaming but these are the only two cards that will fit in my case and that will use little power, less that 25 watts. I know that the 4550 is DirectX10.1 and the 5450 is DirectX11 card. I will not play that many DirectX11 games because I don't have any, so I will mostly play DirectX10 games like GTA IV, and maybe Crysis in medium settings, and the older DirectX9 games like Doom3, Quake 4, Halo 2, GTA San Andreas. I don't really care for Eyefinity right now till I buy my new PC like in a year. Which card will do best at watching 1080p blue ray movies? So which card is more powerful? No I can't buy any other card besides the two. And I need to buy these cards today. Thanks

Buy HD4550 which is enough for your requirement. Don't only look at the DitectX11 technology, which is at its beginning stage.

The two cards have virtually identical performance. Given that, I would go for the newer technology, the 5450. That also has the benefit of slightly lower power consumption (19W vs 25W for the 4550)

Don't go expecting to play Crysis at anything beyond very low settings with either of those cards. They simply aren't up to the more intense 3D games.

Are you absolutely sure you can't get a better card? The Radeon HD 5570 is also low profile and low power (42W) card with actual game playing ability. It will fit in those tiny, slimline HP boxes and work with their itsy bitsy 220W power supplies.

I would recommend Ati Radeon HD 4550 because it has lots more features and benefits to fulfil your demands. Also it is a second generation graphics card too. However my graphics card is ati radeon 3100 the old kind but still its excellent for gaming. But Radeon Hd 4550 is highly recommended.

Like waht was said. They both have similar peformance. Ill ay go for the 5450. Even though you may not play dx 11 games NOW, they will increase in number in the future so upgrade early!! =D

AS for the guy above me, his comment on gaming is bogus. Youll definitely be able to play crysis and GTAIV, given that you have a a good processor.

I myself used to have a radeon 9500 pro 128mb dx9 AGp card with a pentium 4 2.53 ghz. Yet, I STILL PLAYED CRYSIS!!!! obviously the visuals werent all there but performance wise, it was amazing. So dont always listen to peoples comments on whether or not your specs are good enough for a game.

    HOPE THIS HELPED!!

Both will perform badly with Crysis on a decent resolution 7fps @ 1680 x 1050
