If you have used Mirena or Implanon..please answer..I need to make a decision?
Hello,
My daughter is 8 weeks old and I'm wanting long-term birth control (3-5 years). My doctor said I could choose between Mirena or Implanon. I'm supposed to have it done next Tues. After reading YA reviews and questions--now I'm afraid of both. For the Mirena, I'm scared of the pain of having it put in especially since I had an emergency c-section (doctor said it can be more uncomfortable since my cervix didn't dilate--gave me a prescription for a cervix softener).
With the Implanon, I'm scared of the irregular bleeding.
If you've used either of these what was your experience like?

It is the same hormone so......
the side effects should be the same...
Implanon problems usually stop after the first few months but most women get so fed up they take it out before it settles down. It's the same with all progestogen birth control.
I wouldn't get an IUD in your situation. Or if you do then I would get the copper one. But be aware the copper ones can make periods heavier and cramping worse.
edit: I'm saying that because if you get a hormonal IUD and the hormones mess your body up and you want it out it's annoying since you can't just stop the hormone part.
But the whole point of adding the hormones to the IUD was to lessen the period pain and heavier bleeding which tends to happpen with IUDs... hard decision.
cute baby lol
Try not to be afraid. Did you know that the IUD is the most popular form of birth control and practically all of China uses it lol so even 100 terrible reviews don't mean anything.
If you get implanon just get the sucker cut out. Some people try taking the progestogen pill first to see how their body reacts to it before they get the long term progestogen BC put in but some can take microgyn the progestogen pill but got the Mirena taken out. You really have to see how your body reacts at the time unfortunately.

The mirena didnt hurt going in, it just kick started some cramping and you bleed a little bit, it was bearable for me. Just take Tylenol after and your all set. I like the mirena bc i dont have to remember to take anything, my periods are always on the 4th of every month, and im not pregnant, yet... bc apparently there us always a chance on any form of birth control. ( i got pregnant on the pill)
somtimes i get cramping but i never know if its the mirena or if my bodys just being weird? So id say yes to the Mirena, its long term and worry free. Dont be afraid of pain, you went through child labor, you can handle anything now! you can get an insertion.
