Please no recipes. Just a tip or two. Its already made anyway...lima beans and ham, a little salt and pepper. Thats it. Anything more I can add?

I always add a couple of chicken bouillon cubes and 2 bay leaves for flavor to my bean soup when using bouillon cubes you need to adjust the salt as bouillon cubes are salty,I always salt my soup at the end you can also use a can of chicken broth but this should be added when you begin your soup or if adding at the end may make it too watery. I also saute my ham with a diced onion ,2 stalks celery and a finely diced medium carrot in a little butter then add to the soup The next time you make bean soup it will be delicious ...

Since it's already made, can't think of a thing other than the black pepper you already added. Next time add a bay leaf to bump it a bit. What my mom likes to do with her lima beans and ham is add a little milk and sprinkle it with sugar. She does that to her Navy bean soup too.

Water? It needs carrots, onion and celery (Mire poix). Finely dice the three aromatics and sweat them before adding the beans and ham. Finish the soup with a tablespoon or two of butter for added richness.
