Does anyone here have the Shark brand vacuum cleaner?

The one that is supposed to have no loss of suction like the Dyson. I need a new vacuum pretty bad, and was hoping to get a nice one at a reasonable price. Do you have any other recommendations? I figure there are a lot of parents here who vacuum kids messes...which vacuum is best?

I like to buy vacuums on the cheap. I paid $40 for a small Eureka pictured here... http://images.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http://www.v... To replace a $600 vacuum that lasted me only 13 months...a month past the warranty.

The cheap one lasted me for 4 years before the wheels fell off, but it sucked like the day I bought it, wonderfully. I went and bought another just like it.

Pros to it and the reasons I will buy it whenever I need a vacuum as long as I can find it...

    No bag

    No belts to break

Extremely lightweight and perfect for stairs (with the use of an extension cord)

The handle can be raised and lowered, pair that with the weight of it and a 4 year old can vacuum....or a much taller person..say...a husband?

Works on everything from shaggy carpet to bare floors.

I have 2 kids, 2 long haired cats, a dog and birds (it picks up feathers, seed, fur, you name it).

I have owned dozens of vacuums and I always go back to the Oreck's. The upright has a slow speed for hardwood floors. The handheld has ton's of power. They are both light weight. The bags are a bit pricey for the highest grade but hold a lot of dirt and I never get that dirt vacuum smell when I turn it on. If you have had a vacuum for 15 years you probable know you get what you pay for. I have found going to the Oreck store the best way to purchase, they match any INTERNET, T.V, or print price. If the store doesn't come down in price negotiate for other product as a free add on. Their cordless iron is great. I think they now have a steam floor cleaner, I'd try for that.

  • I just have a cheap Kenmore vacuum and I have a Eurika shop vac. While the Kenmore is getting older it still serves its purpose. I would never spend a ton on a vacuum. I think its crazy. 3 of my friends went in together to get me a vacuum as a wedding gift over 5 years back. They got me a great Bissel that they spent way more then they should have, but it was a great vacuum until I broke a year later...just after the warrenty was up. I tried fixing it myself....nope. Then my dad tried and normally he can fix anything...nope. It was trash. So then we got our Kenmore which is pushing 5 years old now. I would like a new vacuum but I can hold out.

Spend the money and get a Dyson. They're the absolute best (well at least the best out of the ones I have owned).

It's worth it to get a good vacuum cleaner that lasts.

(I haven't found a good cheap vacuum cleaner)

Edit: My Dyson is bagless, no filter to change..etc. I always thought I had decent vacuums til I got the Dyson and it picked up so much stuff that the other vacuum left behind. If you have all wood floors then no need to get an expensive one but if you have carpet it's worth it. I have this one:

I have a slightly older Shark brand (eg, pre-"no loss of suction" advertising) vac and I like it fine. It is easy to empty.

I would _not_ spend a lot of money on a vacuum -- the cost per use of the pricier ones is ridiculous. Much as I dislike the wastefulness of this -- I would rather have a new $75 vacuum every five years than to be still pushing the same $500 one in a quarter century, when hopefully they will all be robotic and self-cleaning and solar-powered and able to hover up to the next floor and so on and on...

I recommend Shark Navigator Never Loses Suction Upright. Bagless dirt container means there are never any bags to buy or replace http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00266X3NM?ie=UTF...

I have the older version of this:

    http://www.target.com/Bissell-82H1-Cleanview-Bagle...

and I like it a lot. it's a bit bulky but it's got good reviews and I haven't had a problem with it. it suctions well, it's bagless, and picks up everything. nothing gets missed or gets spit back out at me.

I have a smaller eureka, its yellow, bagless, and i love it.

i got it at target for like 75$ i think.

I do have a smaller apt though. but i love it

My dad has a dyson at his place, and I actually prefer my vacuum over theirs, only cause i like how mine is easily maneuverable and it works just fine to me.

*okay so i paid 60$ for it
