Reporting bankruptcy to employer in Texas?

In the state of Texas, is it required that an individual report a bankruptcy to their employer? Furthermore, if it is a Chapter 13 bankruptcy, based on income, would the courts or anyone contact the employer to confirm any salary information provided in determining the payment schedule?

No, Texas law does not require you to report a bankruptcy to your employer. For certain types of employees-- like bank tellers-- there may be something in the employee handbook that asks you to report it. But no official state law.

If it is a Chapter 13, the trustee will not contact your employer to confirm information because the trustee can confirm by looking at your paystubs and your own testimony. However, most trustees around the state will ask that your monthly trustee payments be made by wage withholding. So your payroll clerk may be notified.

I underwent bankruptcy and wasn't required to report it to my employer. It seems that that would be an invasion of privacy.
