definitely apply for state aid if you are in that much pain they will get it to you quicker and especially if they see you are usually independent and have work ethics they know you have paid into the state fro years and the sooner you get on your feet you will resume your duties somewhere and provide the state with the means to help others like you ! that is your defense and your strategy to get what you need when you need it use it and surely you cant fail, good luck and get well soon!

I hope that you get the assistance you need. Such a situation is unheard of in Barbados, which is considered a developing country! Health care is considered a human right here, and the collective taxes pay for health care. If a person chooses to she pays, but if you choose referral to our general hospital, as long as you are a citizen of my country the question of payment does not even arise. Nobody is turned away from a hospital here! I know that this may not be of much help to you but I just had to express my shock and horror that such a situation is faced by you and other Americans living in the most developed country in the world.

Kelly, I am not sure where you live but we have a hospital here in Indianapolis called Wishard. They offer the Wishard Advantage program. It provides low cost medical care, hosipital, medicine, etc. Do you receive unemployment? I would advise and fast seeing if there is a hospital in your area to offer low cost care. Even get put on a payment plan if possible. Good luck. Nikki
