I've been getting best answer notifications for questions posted two years ago. Wassup?

The user who asks the question is given a period of time to choose the best answer themself. If that user does not choose one, other users are then allowed to vote on which answer is best. There is then a period of time for voting, at the end whoever has the most votes is chosen best answer. But, if noone votes or if there is a tie it can be a long time before a vote is cast or a winner is chosen which is probably what's happening with your answers.
