why do the Tory's not admit that they could have saved all the lives at Ladbroke Grove train crash?
the report chaired by Anthony Hidden QC (27th september 1989) recommended that automatic train protection was fitted to our trains. so the tory party had many years in power to act on this so they and only them killed the people at Ladbroke Grove. So what do you think the tory party should do as they could have saved these lives. So if you think labour killed our soldiers in Iraq by cost cutting and you will not vote for them, will you vote for the tories who kill people on trains by cost cutting
well it seems to me the country will be killed by the tories based on the answers so far so lets say to david lets save on safety your party did it in the past and we love it . well what do you think

Why should the government be running trains in the first place? If the railroad were private, the private corporation would have made the proper improvements much faster.
Over here in the US, the government can't even provide security. Prior to both 9/11 and that incident last Christmas, the government had the information needed to stop the attack, but didn't use it due to bureaucracy.
Since monopolies are inefficient, it should not surprise anybody that the monopolist of monopolists (and creator of all the other monopolies) known as "government" should be the most inefficient monopoly of all.

The Automatic Train Protection (ATP) was the stupidest idea ever thought of. (It was a system that if you passed a signal at red, the train would stop eventually).
It was massively expensive, costing about a billion, which could be much better spent in other ways.
What is the matter with these train drivers? They don't have to work out the route, just look out for signals and do what they say. What is so difficult about stopping at a red signal. I manage to do it dozens of times a day.

We had the exact same train wreck in the USA a few years back, when a railroad engineer was texting some teenagers and he missed a red light warning him to stop. His train collided head on with another train going the opposite direction on the same tracks.
And yes, in the USA there had been a proposal for more modern signalling systems, but they were not installed because of the cost.
Then after that the exact same thing happened in a Boston subway station, when a subway engineer crashed into another train because he was busy texting.
This is why people think Americans are stupid.
Some of us are.

the labour government those people who are trying to stay in power are responsible for those deaths they are the same people who caused countless deaths through there cost cutting who don't apologize instead lie and try to cover it up
the Tories running for election today are not the same people "who kill people on trains by cost cutting" there for how is this a relevant question to the current political climate
trying to hold today's Tories for a mistake like that is like trying to blaim the people of Britain today for the crusades it is an outdated view

It was up to the Railway Services to provide better safety protection on our trains. They take our money when we buy tickets, so they have a duty to provide a safe service. It was not up to the Tory Party
