They usually charge per pet, I don't think any are free, but each seems to be different. Pet friendly hotels
We prefer to travel as much in the dark also so that the dogs will settle down and go to sleep. We don't do potty breaks at gas stations, they are too noisy, we look for schools or parks. Bring bottled water from home too just in case they won't drink the water there.
