If I am waiting to hear back on a short sale...?

Will the law that went into effect, will it likely speed up the house I am waiting to hear on? It has been 5 weeks since the seller accepted the offer and the paperwork was sent to the bank. I would normally ask my realtor, but he is on his honeymoon so I dint want to bother him until he gets back so...

    Expect it to take at least 6 months. There is no law requiring you to ever hear from the bank at all.

    In "THEORY" it is supposed to streamline the process of a short sale.. LOL

    But, since it is the government behind this, I highly doubt you are going to get a nice straight line from point A to point B.
