Renault Laguna 1.9DCi vibration noise - what is it?

My 2002 Renault Laguna diesel has a vibration noise that starts at 3100 rpm and stops again at 3900rpm when the engine is revved in neutral. It also makes undue noise going forwards under strong power, and makes the noise going backwards on overrun. I have replaced the exhaust, engine mounts, clutch, intercooler and air filter. I have had the noise since I got the car 12000 miles ago and it doesn't affect its performance in any way. Can anyone (Renault mechanic perhaps?) suggest what is causing it?

Check the plastic air intake pipe, it runs from the front of the battery to the air filter housing. This is a common vibration but can be easily solved by screw in a self tapping screw at each end to secure it firmly to the battery tray and air filter housing
