Do you think that Jorge Posada is a future Hall of Famer?

He's been one of the best offensive catchers over the past 10 years and has championship hardware to boot. I

Update:

Polly: What is all that garbage?!

Update 2:

Nike: Are you serious?

Update 3:

Utter Chaos: Excellent point. It just seems like those on high power teams that have extra media exposure seem to grab the the sports writers' attention. Hell, just look at Pee Wee Reese!

Update 4:

Utter Chaos: Here's the deal. Posada is likely going to play for at least another 3-4 seasons whether it be for NY or not. I think that his mediocre behind the plate, but at 20 HRs per year, that puts him into 300 HR range. At that point, he'll raise a few more eyebrows...

Update 5:

I forgot to add that he'll likely become a DH in his last couple of seasons...This will drive that HR total upward.

Posada shouldn't get into the Hall of Fame until Ted Simmons does.

    Simmons: 2456 G, 2472 H, 248 HR, 1389 RBI, .285 BA, 8 All Star

    Posada: 1596 G, 1492 H, 244 HR, 966 RBI, .278 BA, 5 All Star

Championship hardware is overrated. If Posada wasn't on the Yankees they still would have won those World Series.

edit: Posada turns 39 in August. I don't think he has another 3 to 4 years left. I say either 1 or 2. Catching takes a toll on the knees and other than 2007, Jorge's high batting average is only .287. I don't think there will be many teams looking for a 40 year old ex-catcher who can't run, bat around .270, and only hit around 20 home runs as a DH. I also think Posada will want to retire as a Yankee.

Posada is a impressive participant yet in need of hall of repute status. Being the appropriate catcher for a decade does no longer mean a lot. bill Freehan became the appropriate catcher interior the A.L. for the duration of the 60's and made the all celebrity group 13 situations and gained 5 gold gloves. He gained 2 votes (0.5%) while he became elligible for the HOF in 1982. Ted Simmons has greater helpful offensive numbers than Posada (aside from means) and easily gained 17 votes (3.7%) in 1994.

No. Rings mean nothing when dealing with the hall of fame and I don't think he has the numbers to be in the hall of fame. He's always been an above average hitter but has never been the best in the league or even in his own lineup for that matter.

No. Unfortunately it is the Hall of Fame, not the Hall of Very Good.

He may have been on of the better offensive catchers this generation, but I only see Pudge being the only catcher (and possibly Mauer if continues to produce) still playing being elected to the Hall of Fame.

    He has to be

    .287 career avg.

    244 HR

    965 RBI

    5x All Star

    5x Silver Slugger

    5 World Series rings

Yes He should be. When you watch him play everyday you can see how good of a player he is. He might not be as good as Mauer or Pudge but he is still a great hitter and a great leader in the club house. And for a catcher to still be hitting like he does at his age is amazing

Rivera, Jeter, Pettitte, and Posada should all make the HOF.

He will be consdered but I don't see him getting in. But 20 should definitely be retired by the Yankees.
