Question about a Mercury Grand Marquis air conditioner?

I own a 1995 Mercury Grand Marquis with the electronic dashboard. The AC control panel in the dashboard failed, and in order to get the AC to function, I had to bypass the relay, and install a maual switch. It's functional, but if you leave it on too long, it will destroy the AC compressor. Obviously I'd like to repair it the right way, but the control panel is too pricey at the dealership. Can I use an analog one? the type with just the knobs, and no electronic readout?

Paul, whoh big fella! lets think about this a sec ok? the control panel is simply a device that allows the oporator to deside the functions. Fan speed, temp adjustment,A/C or heat etc. the compressor is triggered by presure sensing switches in the freon lines. when you turn the control to A/C the power is sent to the freon switch this switch is forwarding the voltage to the A/C clutch on the compressor locking it into place. when the presure in the freon tube reaches its max point allowable the power is broken off at the switch and the clutch stop locking in and allows the air passing thru the core in the front of the radiator to cool the freon down lowering the presure. when it drops below a set presure the power is reconected at the switch and the freon flows again! this is called cycling. the problem here is you need to explain what function is failing in that control panel that you bypass.

Does it is going to easily come from the nicely suited vent ?? The doorways that direct the air pass interior the sprint are powered by skill of engine vacuum, & with the engine became off, there is not any vacuum. The doorways additionally are spring loaded, so they continuously return to an identical place whilst the engine is off. It takes a pair of seconds when you turn the vehicle on for the vacuum to construct sufficient rigidity to re-organize the doorways ... prevalent.

control in dash is around $600. Go to salvage yard to get one, can't put manuel air unless complete wire harness is changed
