I'm hoping to go to my first game at Wrigley field late May. Where in the ground should I try to book a seat?
I'm not entirely a novice, but I'd like to sit among friendly home (Cubs) fans who will tell me what's going on if I get confused (or should I just take a radio and listen to the commentary)? I know more about cricket than I do about baseball. I'd do the same for any American visiting a cricket match!
Luciana's answer is great! Just the sort of answer I was hoping for.
I probably should explain - I've watched live baseball on UK television - we get the World Series but not much else except "highlights" - but I'm still am not sure exactly what a pinch hitter is and when and why substitutions can be made. I'm more than willing to learn, but would rather not come across as an idiot,

If you are looking for friendly and knowledgeable fans, don't go to wrigley. they don't exist! cub fans do not know what is going on during the game. If you do not know much about the game, then go to wrigley because you will fit in. I am not trying to be mean but I am speaking from experience! Cub fans do not know the game of baseball!!!! Very knowledgeable fans exist in in every other park not wrigley! Please people stop buying in to the hype of wrigley and the charm of wrigley. The place is crumbling and concrete is falling on people, it is true look it up! If you really want to learn the game I suggest just watching the game, reading about the game, something other than listening to cub fans! I really hope you listen to me about this matter because I have gone to wrigley and all I see is people talking on the phone telling others "hey I'm at the cubs game", others working on computers, and then the bleacher bums still wondering when Sammy is gonna be up! They don't pay attention to the game. Good luck, I suggest going to any other ball park.

Ive never been to Wrigley, but I do know baseball games. Anywhere should be fine because I know its such a great ballpark. I think the bleachers should be fun. Baseball is very relaxed its not like attending an NBA game where everyone is shouting and high energy all game. Some people will be shouting and have high energy at the Cubs game of course, but its really not a big deal if you don't know every play. If you don't know much about the game just watch some games on TV, maybe ask a friend or family who knows more and just ask them what stuff is. If you really want to be prepared mentally for yourself, do some research for fun. Just have fun, and enjoy the experience.
