Well, I can't name any new Rock bands, mainly because they suck, but some old rock groups that are actually good are The Rolling Stones, Boston, Rush, Blue Oyster Cult, Kiss, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Queen, The Who, and Thin Lizzy. Some good solo Rock artists are David Bowie, Elton John, and Billy Idol.
