First you need a psychiatrist to make a correct diagnosis and prescribe the right safe medications for you. Tell him everything about your sex addiction also. He will refer you to the right kind of therapy that will help you.

well i suppose it depends on the severity. A mental health counselor is not as qualified as a psychiatrist or a psychologist, so i would automatically get rid of that option if u think your symptoms r severe. Then i don't think that it will make much difference. The psychiatrist and psychol will both treat u similarly i suspect

sex addiction:
There is a tremendous amount of mind manipulation within many sexual presentations that you are more than likely not aware of. Many are disguised as natural sexual attraction which hides them even further. Become familiar with them and the methods to free yourself from these unwanted intrusive elements. They are too many to mention here, all is written in the book below. hope you use it well.
in addition I have a yahoo group on sexual addiction at:

for depression it is good to look at the causes of it, so with a proper counselour at the right time that is good for the individual. or the person could look into and solve it themselves, but they have to be calm enough to be able to analyze their thoughts and emotions. if they have a severe depression, this still can be done by oneself, however if the severe depression is a case were the person is going to be causing permamnent mental damage by too much stressful thinking, or any other kind of damage then it is appropriate for them to not engage in helping themselves by thinking, quite the reverse by stopping thinking, just by not thinking they can eliminate all sorts of stress, when they get to a point in their life where they can properly think then they can look into it. The book that I mentioned hs several points mentioned that also help in depression, since the depresseion may be emotion, self-esteem or love related. I hope that helped

Typically you need to start with a psychologist and he will determine if meds are appropriate. If meds are needed he will refer you to a psychiatrist for meds.
