Is an HD camcorder really worth 2 x the $?
I'm in the market for a camcorder to take on a vacation this summer. I expect to mostly record family activities, but also I'm expecting fantastic scenery (going to British Columbia). Is an HD camera ($700ish) going to be that much better than a standard camera ($300)?
I would be watching the playback on an HD (1080P) TV if that makes a difference.

You will be very pleased being able to watch your vacation videos in HD on your HD TV.
If you have cable or satellite television service, check out the same program that you get in both HD and standard definition. A channel like National Geographic is a good example to see the difference.

Why even pay $300.00 for a HD camcorder when you can have the convenience of a great pocket camcorder that travels light, takes excellent video and stills, includes all the hookups to view on HD TV or Regular TV ( providing your tv has the connections), has the built-in software to save to your pc, and only costs $149.00 plus it's waterproof - yes it is HD @ 1080p.
Light, portable, inexpensive - can't be beat!
If your looking for something more "state-of -the art" you need to keep looking, if you want something for quick & easy beautiful family videos and will only be using it every-so-often (this will provide long term enjoyment - makes it well worth the investment) then look at the Kodak Playsport.
