What can a developer do with my UDID for iPod touch?

A developer is asking for my UDID, and it seems like a pretty sweet deal. almost too good.

what can he do with my UDID that would be negative for me?

    The UDID is solely used for the purpose of identifying the device for certain tasks, such as the eligibility to upgrade to new beta firmware or to have your device used to install apps to from developers.

    Any developer including myself can do it for free, there's no harm from doing it. You'd be able to upgrade to the new iPhone OS 4 beta.

    ok, nicely i became peeing in a public restroom at a similar time as listening to my ipod and my ipod fell in and started making scorching noises and smoke got here out of it and it blew up. they guy or woman applying the stall next to me referred to as the police because of the fact they thought i became pooping out bombs interior the stall. what could i do?
