What happens to furniture that doesn't sell?

My local fire station is in dire need of furniture, especially recliners. I'm trying to figure out who to ask for a donation, the stores, the manufacturers, not sure.

Most of the time, if a store has furniture that they cannot sell after a certain length of time, they start marking it down until it does sell, and this is where you can both be a winner. I have known people that have done this. so I know it works most of the time. The stores would be glad to donate the furniture to you, that way they can use it as a tax write-off as a charitable donation, otherwise they have to mark down the furniture to a point where they risk losing money so they send it back to the manufacturer where it is taken apart and used to make other furniture but even this is not really economical because they have to pay shipping it back and forth.
