Neuteuring 2 year old GSD.?
I have a German shepherd, male who has just turned two years old.. I'd like to be sure that his personality doesn't change after his neuteuring (?)
He tends to bark & lunge at dogs aswell (only on leash) (we're are currently working on that) however, will it stop that need to do that? Depending on the dogs size & sex, he will often act different towards them. If an unneutured male is playing with him, he's fine however, when he's with other smaller dogs he doesn't seem to like them.. will this get better?
My mum & I have agreed to get him neutured to prevent; cancers and extend his life span..

You are going to neuter a 2-years old toddler??? Yes, a German shepherd is a PERSON. My breed is the German Shepherd Dog.
Neutering causes NO personality/attitude changes.
Done BEFORE the sexual hormones kick in, it might PREVENT adult attitudes/behaviours STARTING - but as my dogs are fertile at 4 months old (as proven by a couple fertilising their co-operative dams), it is obvious that THEIR sexual hormones have kicked in earlier than that, and therefore they would have to be neutered well before 4 months old if I didn't want adult behaviours and shapes (the sexual hormones also tell the bones when to stop increasing in size, and affect other body parts as well). But people whose properties & facilities are suitable for dogs should be able to ensure that their pets don't get mated before becoming yearlings, and therefore don't need to incur the risks involved in neutering before 11-15 months old.
Advocates of very early neutering should read the research reports in the Links => Neutering section of http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/The_GSD_Source
to discover the many possible side-effects of neutering and then realise that the odds of any occurring increases inversely to the age at which neutering is done (meaning that the younger it is done, the more likely that the side-effects will occur). Rescue groups don't neuter early because that is the best time - they HAVE to neuter before letting a pooch leave them, because they know that most people are liars and so only by neutering while they still have possession of the pooch can the rescue groups ensure that the pooch they are rehoming won't be turned into a puppy factory.
Misbehaviour:
You want THAT part of his personality to change - but neutering won't do it.
You SHOULD have been in a training-club class (forget pet shop play groups) as of when Pup was 18-22 weeks old. Join one NOW. There YOU will be coached on how to be an effective trainer; as a side-effect, Pup learns to pay attention regardless of what other dogs & people are doing.

Neutering may help defuse the situation by removing the hormonal drive behind these behaviors. However, it will not cure the issues, only with consistent daily socialization and strict training will you be able to properly manage them... With Aggressive behaviors I suggest that a professional trainer be contacted if for nothing else than to have a proper evaluation done and training regiment implemented

Removing his gonads will not alter his personality nor cause him to become a well-trained dog. It will not make him less susceptible to cancer but may in fact incease his risk.
I'm glad to see you are working on his poor behavior, but when do you think you'll get serious? At age two years he should be done with at least one course in obedience. Why not work with a professional trainer (one who will not put up with his dominating behaviors) and test him for a Canine Good Citizen award?

some canines do turn hues slightly. My beagle's snout began turning gray while he became basically 4 years. of path, he additionally had a hereditary ailment that brought about him to die on the age of 8. something of his family members died long in the previous then. Sorry to darken the temper with that, yet you probable ought to have your vet verify it out, only in case. because of the fact canines won't be able to tell you if something is misguided, you could desire to circulate via the particular warning signs. this is probable no longer something, yet i might have it regarded at.
