Any ideas about cheap, easy and secure short term data storage?
I currently have a 250gb external portable hard drive which has started to go on the "blink" as it is only recognised sometimes when i plug it into various usb ports like my ps3, laptop or PC at work and it also sometimes makes a horrible clicking sound. It has a 2 year warranty so i shall be sending it back to the manufacturers for replacement or repair. Before i do that that i will need to back up the 180+gb of files that i have stored on the device. I hoping that i can get some suggestions or ideas on the cheapest, easiest and safest way to do that. I don't have enough space on any of my other devices to move the files over, buying another hard drive seems somewhat counter productive. Maybe theres a free/cheap online service where i could upload my data securely until i receive my new hard drive? Or maybe there is some other way i could store my files for a while? Any suggestions at all would be appreciated.

there are many websites where you can store your files but 180gb will take a long time to upload the website I used to back up my files was called humyo and I also use glide os 4. what you could do is make an iso file (which is just a compressed version of your files) or make zipped/compressed folders and upload them to your accound on humyo.com. Its free for 10gb and its $7 per month for 100gb. another website back which is really cool is called glide os 4 which is 30gb for free and 250gb for $5 a month (which is a way better deal than humyo) so I would defiantly use glide os 4. hope this helps :D

There are some online solutions which offer free online storage in small amounts like Dropbox which offers 1Gb free and charges for larger storage. It might seem a bit messy but web-based email like Yahoo and Gmail are good ways to store data.

It will also take A LONG time to upload 200 GB to an online service. I would suggest buying an external hard drive. If you cant afford one atm you could ask friends or buy one and return it when you are done with it.

Back up all your files as compressed or zip files asap to CD-RW's or DVD-RW's. They are reusable. Failing that get yourself another hard drive or a friend (you trust) with another external H/D

Your data may be at risk - you should copy it over to another hard drive asap!
