It's rare for children to eat very much in the way of elaborate meals at birthday parties, so I assume you are looking for finger food items. Here are a few ideas...

BLUE CREAM CHEESE WITH MINI BAGELS

Heap upon a of platter some mini bagels (plain). Then take a couple of blocks of cream cheese and soften them briefly in the microwave--OR take a few tubs of whipped cream cheese--and add blue food coloring (gels and pastes are better than the drops) until the desired shade of blue is achieved. Heap the blue cream cheese into a pretty glass (or opaque white) bowl so the color shows up best, and set in the middle of the platter with a blunt butter knife. If the children are *very* small, I would have plenty of bagels already assembled with the blue-colored cream cheese.

BLUE RANCH DRESSING WITH BABY CARROTS and CUCUMBER STICKS

Just color ranch dressing with blue food coloring and put into a glass bowl in the middle of a platter. Surround with baby carrots and cucumber sticks (or raw veggies of your choice).

    BLUE DEVILED EGGS

Start with your favorite deviled eggs recipe. (If yours calls for relish, I would omit it for the sake of the children.) Before scooping the mixture back into the white egg halves, soak them in water mixed with a few drops of food coloring to get the desired shade of blue. Allow drying time on paper towels, then fill and serve. "Blue looks terrific with the yellow centers."
