The problem must therefore be, he imagines he can oust your boyfriend or that you will "double up".

So you have been friendly to him and that has got his hopes up...

So the other guys are basically right, if your friend's son won't take the hint (and your question suggests not) he will need to be told straight that you are happy with your boyfriend and not interested - to tell him sorry, but that is that and time to move on. If it persists, then you will have to cut him dead.

This will be difficult for him, but better now than later.

without giving ages? I assume ! he is young male and you are an older female and he has indicated a romantic interest in you.

without crushing his feelings you have to smile and laugh off any suggestion he may want to date you with comments about ' I am old enough to be your mother, I am very flattered if only I was 10 years younger and I doub't my boyfriend would be happy about sharing me around etc.

leave a present wrapped addressed to you nearby and a bunch of flowers with card with your name on it. card etc to say .to ...( your name..) from ( boyfriends name ) with love and best wishes . make sure he gets to see it and dont push it right under his nose. watch in a way that he may not see you watching him look at it. hopefully he will get the message without being crushed too badly. bottom line is , he need's to know.
