I bought a Nikon D90 and took 1,000 quality pictures at a Passion Pit concert, I want to sell them, help?

Security wouldn't let me in with the camera. I was furious and got the band involved and ended up with a photo pass. There are some beautiful colors and lights, this camera is amazing. I live in Eugene Oregon, which is where the concert was. Time is of the essence, who would buy these? and for how much? Thank you.

Update:

Someone sounds real grumpy :) I'm ignoring this first response.

Update 2:

Hmm, destructive (and assumptive) criticism coming from a 'top contributor?'(Sounds like you're the one that thinks you're hott ****)

:: I met the band and got permission to do whatever I wanted from them. And after looking through these a million times, there are at least 600 good ones and 100 artsy ones (I deleted the bad ones) Who the hell takes 900 bad pictures out of 1000 anyway(especially with a NikonD90)? This first person is a joke. Please be serious, I would like to sell these.

recap> I have permission to have and sell these photographs. Who will want them and what will they pay for them?

Update 3:

...OR, you have no idea what you're talking about?

It's very very simple, I took a slew of clear, bright, and well framed pictures at the Passion Pit concert, with PERMISSION from the BAND to do whatever I chose with them(which I can definitely prove, they said it was because I had a mustache). I had a great seat and I was able to completely avoid having ppls hands in front of faces and so on. Is it really that difficult to believe that I am competent enough to take 700/1000 usable pictures of a stage with a band on it and insane lighting? (especially with a NikonD90)

lol I'm not a "flaming idiot," and I am not a child, you are simply uninformed and skeptical, also a bi*ch.

Update 4:

All of that aside, even if I only managed to take 100 decent photos(haha) who would want them? and how much could they go for? Yes I have permission to sell them.

Even better, say I took 100 of my absolute very best to sell.. Who would want any of them and how much is the 'going rate.'

Update 5:

Also: Do I need a photo release form for every band member? Or the band as a whole? Or do I need release forms from the venue as well?

Update 6:

*snicker* you're funny. The concert was very easy to photograph. Oh no! I high success rate on a mostly still scene with a lot of bright lights? (Enabling me to use a faster shutter speed and so on, making for better pictures) I'm not claiming to be god with the camera, I am only saying that I lucked out with a dope set-up. Maybe there was some skill involved, maybe not, I still have a grip of great looking photos. Sure no license, but like someone said earlier it's be hard to sell to a website, I'm ok being stuck with editorial purposes and maybe prints even :)

I am sorry if you had a hard time becoming a photographer, don't take it out on me because I want to take some shortcuts pls, it's worked for me so far.

    legal issue is the essence....

you need signed legal forms first from the band releasing the rights to sell the photos you took to avoid any civil law problems....without that your photos are only good to you no one can buy it and no one will buy it

There are panoramic cameras but the Nikon D90 is not one of them. Real panoramic cameras are highly specialized and still largely film based cameras. The cheapest of them is probably a Lomography model like the Horizon Perfekt or Kompakt. Otherwise, you are looking at a $6000-$10000 investment. That said, you can use applications like Adobe Photoshop CS4 or a cheaper alternative to combine several photos from a D90 or other DSLR camera into a single panoramic image. You'll want to do some more research on this subject to decide what to do. The Nikon D90 is a fine general purpose DSLR camera and, as mentioned earlier, you can use it to create panoramic images but, it is not something done in camera. I've made a few panoramic images by stitching several shots from either my Canon 40D or 7D using my 10-22mm and 17-55mm lenses. These were spontaneous shots I decided to try while on vacation or at family gatherings so they weren't anything special but, the results were good enough to share with family and would not have been possible without the use of software to stitch the images together or an actual panoramic camera.

I took 605 shots today and I can pretty much tell you not all 605 are quality shots just like I know not all 1,000 of yours are quality.

Since you think you're something special and had to throw a tantrum to get a pass for having something you were not allowed to have, why not contact the band again and see about selling them? You may need to get their permission before making a profit from them. Tone down the ego and get in touch with the band and/or band manager first and then worry about whether you can actually make anything.

    EDIT:

I'm actually in a fantastic mood. I'm just being honest. If you have an ego, I'm going to call you on it. YOU have an ego.

    EDIT 2:

You are a flaming IDIOT. It is the general NATURE of ANY shoot to have bad images. Out of 600 shots on my end 300 are decent enough to keep (stuff DOES go out of focus, blown out, bad pose by the model, blinking etc) and then after that it's dropped down even further to only the BEST shots. No matter how good of a photographer you are it is impossible to get 100%h high quality shots. Out of 1,000 I would image 500 are decent and after that only 50-100 that are sale worthy, if even that.

Permission my as*. We all know that you only think you have permission and think you're hot sh*t. Anyone with any clue of photography clearly knows you're full of it and that there's no way you can have 1,000 quality shots.

    Get over yourself.

    EDIT

You JUST bought a D90 and you're going to tell me YOU are competent enough to take 700 quality shots? Give me a break. Absolutely NO photographer I know, not even the pros, can deliver that high of a success rate. It's not because they are bad photogs, it's simply the nature of the craft.

Put your money where your mouth is post some of these oh so high quality shots to Flickr. Put up or SHUTUP.

B*tch? No. Honest and REALISTIC. Tell me something, just how long have you been doing photography? Judging by this thread I'd venture a guess not very long considering your ego is so high.

Yup. Definitely a NEWB. You don't even know if you need model releases. Clearly you have ZERO permission when you don't even know what legal paperwork you need to have signed.

EDIT -- Last one. I'm done dealing with your ignorant as*.

There are ZERO shortcuts in photography. You have to earn your way into the industry. Throwing a temper tantrum for taking your camera to a place where it did not belong in the first place is NOT taking a shortcut. It's acting like a fool and giving a bad name to those of us who are smart enough to establish a rapport with people. We're the ones working hard at our craft and learning, not looking for the easiest possible way.

It's rather ignorant you assume I had a hard time becoming a photographer. I didn't. I hit my brick walls at times and struggled and still do but unlike you I actually worked to become better rather than look for shortcuts, throw tantrums, and expect a check just for showing up.

Trust me, the shortcuts won't work forever. Keep throwing tantrums to get your way and I can assure you word will get out you are not a photographer to work with. Photographers TALK and so do those who work with you.

"I bought a Nikon D90 and took 1,000 quality pictures"

It shows something that you did not even have a Photo Pass to start out with. Let alone when you got one you didn't ask what the restrictions where. And i bet that out of the 1000 pictures you took, 100 tops are worth even trying to sell.

    Edit:

    Webzine's and print zine's

And if you can remember who the band is maybe you can sell a few frames to them. And i would also like to see some of the top shots from this show.

Do you have any authorization from the band that will allow you to sell their images? If not then you cannot sell them. If you do try and sell the pictures you'll likely end up in court.
