Carpenter bees usually bore into raw wood
where the queen resides deep inside. The worker
bees fly around the area protecting the queen.
If you can find an insect spray for cracks and
crevices that has an extension nozzle. insert
into the hole and spray then fill with silicone caulk.
I have been told by exterminators to paint the
raw wood with an oil base paint to prevent this
problem in the future.
The worker bees will fly around you to protect
the queen but so far I have never been stung.
I have fun with a tennis or badminton racket
to practice my serve.

Spray the areas where they are boring in any unpainted or unvarnished wood. Sometimes they may be boring in painted or varnished wood. The WP (wettable powder formulations) such as Demon WP, Cyper WP or will leave a film residue visible on medium to dark wood, in that case use Cyonara 9.7that will dry clear.

Where are they? If they are in your house you will need professional help. You will want to remove their nest and honey. If they are out wild I would just let them be. However, in the future a great natural bug killer (especially ants) is diatomaceous earth. It is a very fine dust that scratches the protective waxy surface of the exoskeleton of the insect and causes them severe dehydration and death. Diatomaceous earth is available at farm supply stores and is very inexpensive.
