What qualification is required to work with in a creche in Glasgow?
Just wondering is Fetac accepted in Scotland or what course would I have to do and would love details of any course websites and anything that could help with moving to Glasgow. Thanks.
My only childcare qualification is in children's nursing but i can't register as a nurse in the UK so I doubt it will count. I understand that you have to be working to do a NVQ course. Is it easy enough then to get a job without a qualification if you plan on doing a course? Also wondering if you have to be a registered nurse to get on a phlebotomy course there or who takes bloods in British hospitals? I know that nurses do in some countries.

FETAC is NOT an accepted qualification in Scotland but there are numerous course places that would be available to someone having attained a FETAC qualification .There are also plenty of nursing assistant and auxilliay nursing jobs which do not require the more stringent qualifications of SRNs.Try a job search on Monster.com using the tags of auxilliary nurse or nursing assistant, you may get a better idea of salary ,qualifications needed etc.
Answer to your further question. Whilst in the USA i had my blood taken several times usually by a dedicated phlebotomist, here it is much more usual for a nurse in a gen med facility or a practise nurse attached to a GP`s surgery, however i had blood taken by a woman in a yellow uniform during a hospital stay in Scotland who appeared to be there for the sole purpose of taking blood samples for the Haemetology Dept,so perhaps there might be a different job title than the phlebotamist tag used in US hospitals.
Hope this helps, and good luck in your endevour to get a career going over here.

I've never heard of Fetac so am guessing it's not going to be accepted. The best way to get a qualification is to go to college and do a years NC course and then a years HNC however you can also do an 18mth/2year course to achieve your SVQ2 and SVQ3 to do this you would work full time (with not much pay) and study at the same time, might be a suitable option if you already have experience and studied the subject and need to earn some money whilst you gain your qualification.
To apply for an SVQ course you could find out who runs the course and apply through them or more commonly check out the job centre website for nurseries advertising for a nursery assistant who they are wanting to train up.
