Can have cancellation charges. Be aware! The 30 trial time also (has been) from the time of signing up. Not the actual time of usage after receiving the phone 'box' in the mail.

Lots of telephone time spent talking to different people / departments to (hopefully) resolve issues.

It can be frustrating. Internet telephone systems are usually good, but if you need to cancel before the end of your contract, they hit you with 2 fees. $80 for the 'box' AND a $40 cancellation fee.

It all adds up, plus you need to have a really reliable fast broadband connection, or using the phone and computer (on the Internet) at the same time degrades the phone voice quality.

Make sure the disconnect fee is only after ONE year of service, not TWO. As I found out the hard way. Their advertising can be deceptive. Read the FINE PRINT in their contract.

Vonage has a good service however they are always increasing their fees and taxes. Look into other voip providers, see Magic Jack! Park My Phone is also offering VoIP based phone services cheaper than Vonage. Magic Jack is attached to your computer and the only problem that you always have to keep your computer open.
