How does the molar mass of a hydrate differ from the mass of an anhydrous compound?

    For every mole of H2O in he formula, the molar mass is 18 g greater (2*1 + 16 from the two hydrogens and one oxygen). So if the formula is whatever .xH2O, add an additional 18x g.
