Is it legal to drive with a smashed but working headlight UK?
I had a crazy yesterday and the left headlight is smashed, but it still works. Is it legal to drive it at night even if it works for the couple of days until the part arrives at the garage? I work evenings and it's dark when I'm coming home and I can't really afford to miss any, especially now. Is there anything I can put over it to aid the situation?
That was supposed to be crash

If the light is damaged it is not roadworthy and you could be stopped and fined. If you injure someone with it you may find your insurance company invalidates your cover....
This is due mainly to the Headlight damage - which has compromised a basic Highway Code requirement....

Probably not illegal per se, but that is the kind of thing that could lead to distraction and pose a hazard. I'm pretty sure there may be some law somewhere that states something along the lines that "a vehicle shall not be operated upon a roadway when the headlights creates a dangerous condition" I would go ahead and get that straightened out as soon as possible. Good luck.
