pay attention to the first answer, don't do it unless you really want a yard full of Bamboo and your neighbor's will REALLY hate you BIG TIME>

well if it is already in your yard then you know how invasive it is...but you can kinda semi control it by planting it in a pot and then planting the pot in the ground, however im sure at some point the bamboo will eventually bust out of it. not sure how the best way to dig up some is, havent had the oppourtunity to do that yet.

if she will wait a on a similar time as, it will make the trek to her abode on that is very own.....!!! working bamboo is a risky ingredient to plant and could be planted with sufficient precautions against it 'traveling' .... metallic sheets buried status around it, to incorporate its unfold, is an excellent ingredient...they might desire to be 4 feet into the floor and a minimum of 8 inches above floor point.... or pot the plant life and have a saucer under them!!.... please be a great steward of the Earth and save up with those products!!!....

I'd use a mattock and a shovel but keep in mind that it is terribly invasive, once it establishes it is nearly impossible to remove and in some states it is illegal to plant the stuff, anyway.
