Brand loyalty and reliability?
Why do you think people are so against Toyota now, after they've had one problem with their cars? Domestics have been unreliable and had tons of problems since Henry Ford built his first Model A and yet people still like them a lot and buy a lot of them...
Don't even bother trying to tell me that American cars are any safer or more reliable than Japanese cars. They are built more cheaply. Perhaps the cars in Japan are better because Japanese workers aren't lazy and actually have an eye and do things correctly, unlike the useless ******* in the US who are building cars.

People are people. Lots of people who "supported" Toyota were yuppies that simply wanted to fit in. This is just the way it is with everything out there. Nobody wants to be on the losing side of things, which I can somewhat understand, but then they go out and support something for the wrong reason. This personally drives me nuts.
And why so shameful of US workers? Since you seem to be defending Toyota, the Camry is nearly bulletproof, and built by workers in Georgetown, KY.
About not telling you that American cars right off the bat are always second-rate compared to the safety and reliability of Japanese cars: that's extremely ignorant. You need to do actual research and see that cars like the Chevrolet Malibu and Ford Flex are ranking above and beyond their Asian counterparts for those categories. Call me biased if you really want to demote yourself to that level, but the Flex is one of the most comfortable vehicles I've ever sat in. Just like Ford's "Drive One" challenge, you really do need to drive one and see that the Big Three have made leaps and bounds in areas that they used to lack in.

i really like the fact that you asked this question. First of all toyota has had problems with their vehicles for quite a while. they tried to cover it up and thought it would just go away. Now if you have done any research on this matter you will have noticed that they did not use the same parts on the vehicles they sold in japan. So now i guess i have a question of my own, did they know that these parts were defective? it sure seems like an awful coincidence!!!

Because of the recalls. When I was a kid my dad had toyota cars.but those cars were built like tanks.in 1972 cars didn't have recalls.our tanks lasted forever.we had a 1972 corona delux station wagon
