Is there a distinction between 'pubic hair and the 'hair on our heads? I'm asking this because...?

when police are taking hair samples for DNA testing ( from crime scenes) they specify which area the hair sample has been obtained.

You can get more information from hair than just DNA (in fact you can only get DNA if it has roots). Microscopic analysis will also help you link hairs.

If they get, say a pubic hair sample from a rape, then microscopes can help match that sample to pubic hair from the offender. That wouldn't work if you only had hair from the offender's head.

they probably want another of what they have as evidence, so if the perp left a pubic hair, they will ask for a public hair sample, and visa versa
