My daughter just had it. If they don't feel ill they can go out as long as you keep them away from babies or women who could be pregnant. I took my daughter to the play park at 7 o'clock in the morning so she could burn off some energy and no-one else would be about. We walked in the forest too. Its not like bugs which stay on the hands and can be left on surfaces but it is very dangerous to pregnant women so you must not risk contact with them.

It's probably best if she stays inside and rest. She doesn't have to stay in bed but keep her calm so that she doesn't do anything to cause more itching. Of course you have to be aware that she has a highly contagious virus and bringing her around others especially older people like teens or adults who have never had chickenpox can cause harm to them. Keep her home until the virus is gone.
BTW - It is not common for children today to have chickenpox since they are vaccinated for the virus. Did she not get her chickenpox immunization?

yes she can.. but it may irritate her a bit.. and being itchy all the time may make the expreience just a hassle... when i had chicken pox it kinda really hurt when i went in the sun.. i have fair skin tho and im only 15 years old, i was ten when i got it.. and the pox's are more exposed to sun damage than normal skin.
I wish her well ... it sucks.... and take care

Going outside will not affect her condition, it is however unfair to expose other who might not be immune, so the garden is the only real option.
