Probability Problem??????????

I was joking around with my brother when I told him I would randomly select one of the Eagles' player's birthday (Sept. 17, which I chose randomly) and I landed on a player and looked at his biography and it was September 17th as I predicted.

What is the probability that this occurs?

- 53 players on the roster

- 365 days in a year to chose from

Well, each player out of 53 has a birthday out of 365 days each

So P = (1/53 * 1/365) * 53 = 1/365 because you first you choose the player then the birthday, but each player has a birthday. You may want to try going to a casino ;)

    1/53 x 1/365 = 1/19345

which is 0.000052 which in turn is 0.0052%

The real question is, how many people are in the band? Of them, how many unique birthdays are there? And finally, how many of them did you know?
