need some trans specialist assist on my thoughts?

my daughter and her boyfriend were driving her 96 ford explorer home last night and he said he 1st heard a sound much like a tire going flat, then he was pulling out of the grocery store and lost all forward gears. it still engages strong in reverse. my 1st guess is a band issue, now she had several weeks ago her radiator go bad blending trans fluid and coolant to both. I replaced the radiator, pulled the pan flushed as best possible the system installed new filter etc. the fluid is still clear in trans, no evidence of burning etc of the fluid. is this a rebuild situation or something easier. IM not an auto trans specialist so need some assist.

what did the fluid look like before the fluid change when the radiator was bad if strawberry ice cream color then the trans started going bad then anti freeze will eat the glue that hold the friction material to the steel and the band material you need a rebuilt if the 1-2 or the3-4 band were broken the trans would still move just wouldn't have that gear if reverse band were broken then you wouldn't have reverse yes this trans has solenoids but are for shift feel and timing and not stop vehicle movement so start calling shops for prices find a shop at atra.com
