How do I tell if a boy is gay or not?

It is very hard to find another gay person because there are many gay guys who act as if they are straight. And if you ask someone of they are gay they might be but might feel that if they say yes you might go an tell people and then they would get made fun of or something. You should just go towards the guys who act a little more feminine or those guys who like to hang way more around guys.

Other than asking them there is no way to know for sure, if they're in the closet sometimes they'll even lie when asked. At 13 it's a bit early for you to be considering becoming sexually active but most cities and a lot of High Schools have organizations and support groups for teen aged gays so you might consider looking into that if you just need someone to talk to.

Unfortunately there is no 100% sure-fire way to tell, except by asking.

This is why a lot of gay people hang out in gay clubs or join GLBT social organizations -- its a reasonably safe bet that most of the people you meet at a gay bar, club, GLBT bowling league, Pride Center, or gay pride festival are either GLBT or straight-but-supportive.

I don't know where you live or how old you are, but in my experience, coming out to someone, or asking someone if they're gay does NOT generally lead to being gay-bashed. Then again, I live in the suburbs of the NYC metro area, and I'm in my early 50's -- maybe I've just been lucky.

try taking some classes, ie. design or ??? or hang out at??? Anyways, there are always clues & hints but I must admit it is harder to find someone if you're in the closet.

Little clues & hints: rainbow things, maybe piercings, the way they act around the same gender (like if it seems maybe flirty or more feely).

Simple until your comfortable in your own skin which your not you don't.
